About This Place

This wide expanse of sandy beach lies on the southern side of the mouth of the River Dovey (Afon Dyfi). The beach is backed by an extensive dune system and the Ynyslas National Nature Reserve which features a popular visitor centre. From the beach there are views across the estuary towards Aberdyfi, with a magnificent hilly backdrop in the distance. --> Visitors come here to relax and walk amongst the dunes or look for the many interesting shells that can be found along the beach. Swimming here is dangerous because of the presence of strong river currents. There is a tradition of parking cars on a roped-off part the beach here, in return for a small fee.

πŸ’‘ Our Take

Nestled in Wales, Ynyslas beach is a dog-lover's dream, welcoming dogs year-round with its vast, sandy stretches ideal for long, playful runs and energetic fetch sessions. The soft, dune-backed sands are perfect for puppies and big dogs alike, offering ample space for exploration. Convenient parking is a short walk away, though nearby facilities are limited, so plan ahead. The waters are generally gentle, but always monitor swim-loving canines for strong currents. This serene spot is ideal for anxious dogs needing a tranquil environment. DogParkUK recommends bringing water and snacks to make the most of this beautiful beach escape.
