About This Place
The coastal town of Workington has a rich industrial heritage.Β Just south of the mouth of the River Derwent, and the docks area, Workington Beach forms a stretch of shingle, with some sand exposed at low tide.Β --> Workington is the starting point for the Sea-to-Sea Cycle Route (C2C), a challenging ride over the Pennines to Sunderland on the north-eastern coast. A coastal path runs close to the beach and Siddick Ponds Nature Reserve, behind the beach is of particular interest to birdwatchers. The grasslands, open waters and reed beds at Siddick Ponds have been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest, and as well as providing an excellent habitat for birds, also provide a home to dragonflies and a variety of butterfly species.
π‘ Our Take
Workington Beach, in Cumbria, is a fantastic dog-friendly haven! Your furry pal is welcome year-round on its sandy shores, perfect for zoomies and digging. Parking is generally available nearby, though facilities are limited, so pack water. Although there might not be a lifeguard, the water is generally calm, so great for doggie paddles! Remember to always supervise your dog in the water and be mindful of tides. This beach is brilliant for energetic dogs who love open spaces, but perhaps less ideal for nervous pups due to its exposed nature. Enjoy!
