About This Place
Whitstable’s West Beach is a long stretch of shingle divided up by wooden groynes. It runs from just south of the town’s harbour to neighbouring Seasalter, a distance of around a mile. --> Despite the lack of sand Whitstable is still a fantastic spot. It represents the best of the traditional British seaside; not piers and donkey rides, but quirkiness and charm. There are beach huts, weatherboard cottages, fishing boats pulled up on the beach and the Neptune pub sits practically on the beach. There are a few other places to grab a bite to eat along the beach too, including the Whitstable Oyster Company restaurant if you fancy something a little upmarket.Whitstable beach is popular for windsurfing and sailing, with the Whitstable Yacht Club located at the northern end.To top this all off Whitstable beach faces west meaning it is a great place to catch a sunset. Please note: A large part of Whitstable beach is privately owned by the Whitstable Oyster Fishery company and although the public use the beach access is by permission of the oyster company to allow us to restrict access for our commercial activities. Any queries should be directed to the Oyster Company.
💡 Our Take
Whitstable Beach, nestled in Kent, offers a delightful retreat for dog owners with its pet-friendly, year-round policy. This pebbly beach is perfect for those who prefer less sandy paws and offers expansive views and fresh sea breezes—a canine delight. Parking is conveniently available nearby, though it can get busy on weekends, so plan to arrive early. With calm waters, it’s a safe spot for dogs to splash around, making it particularly ideal for puppies and small breeds. Facilities are minimal, so pack essentials for your furry friend. DogParkUK warmly recommends Whitstable Beach for a relaxed, worry-free experience.
