About This Place

Westhaven is a small, sandy beach on the western edge of the town of Carnoustie. The beach is surrounded by rocks, which protect it from the strongest currents, making it a good place for bathing in the relatively shallow water. --> Naturally, there are many rock pools in the area and exploring these for signs of marine wildlife can be an activity for all of the family to enjoy. Boating is also popular in the area. There is a small car park at the end of East Row, a short walk from the beach. Further parking can be found in the centre of Carnoustie, about half a mile from the beach, as can many other amenities including shops, places to eat, and places to stay. There is also a railway station with regular services to Dundee. Carnoustie was once a very popular tourist destination, before somewhat declining as cheaper international holidays became available. However, it has successfully reinvented itself as a golf resort.

πŸ’‘ Our Take

Westhaven Beach, nestled in the picturesque countryside of None, is a haven for dog enthusiasts. Dogs are welcome year-round on this serene, sandy expanse, offering the perfect playground for your furry friends. The soft, golden sand is gentle on paws, making it ideal for playful puppies and big dogs alike. With ample parking available nearby, visit with peace of mind, though remember to pack drinking water as facilities are a short drive away. Swim gently in the calm waters, but keep a watchful eye on strong currents. Perfect for sociable and adventurous dogs, Westhaven is a delightful excursion for all.
