About This Place

West Dale Beach sits on the edge of the village of Dale, just south of the old RNAS Dale airbase. The beach here is a mix of sand and shingle backed by cliffs. At either end of the small beach are a few rock pools. --> Looking westward, out to sea, you can see across to the bird sanctuary of Skokholm Island. As the beach is so close to the village there are a full range of amenities just a short distance away and you can visit the pretty Griffin Inn which is located in Dale. Other points of interest close to the beach include Dale Castle which originally dates from the 18th century but was rebuilt in the 20th century. The beach is part of a long valley that runs along the coast and ends at the Dale Peninsula and which is a place of geological importance. The cliffs that surround the beach are part of the Rhaetic Fault which stretches to Mildford Haven Waterway. On the south side of the beach is Great Castle Head which is a fort from the Iron Age.

πŸ’‘ Our Take

Looking for a carefree beach day with your furry pal? Westdale Beach is your spot! While we lack specific details for this beach, the fact it's dog-friendly year-round is paw-some. We recommend verifying local parking availability before you visit. Due to the lack of information, we suggest checking swim safety conditions on arrival. Westdale is a great pick for dogs of all sizes who love a classic, unrestricted beach experience. Pro tip: pack extra water, especially during warmer months, as facilities information is unavailable and the sand can get hot for sensitive paws!
