Westbrook Bay (Margate)
📍 Margate, Kent
About This Place
This pleasant, sandy beach sits on the north-eastern Kent coast, and is one of the quieter beaches to be found close to the town of Margate – there are no arcades here. Westbrook is a good beach to bring young children, who will enjoy playing with buckets and spades in the clean sand or jumping in the waves. The presence of a lifeguard in the summer season and the gentle slope of the sands make this a relatively safe place for younger visitors. --> Even when the tide is in at Westbrook, a narrow stretch of sand remains. At low tide a number of rockpools are exposed and it can be fun hunting for marine life and pretty shells amongst the rocks. The beach has a designated water-skiing area and is popular with watersport enthusiasts. To the rear of the beach runs a wide promenade which has some attractively-coloured beach huts. A mini-golf course can be found at the eastern end of the bay, and at the western end is a large, grassy area with a 1030’s sunken garden. Tennis courts and bowling facilities are nearby. The facilities here are good, including deck chair hire, toilets and a couple of cafes. For shops, cafes and entertainment head to Margate itself which can be found less than a mile away.
💡 Our Take
We at DogParkUK recommend Westbrook Bay in Margate, Kent! It's a fantastic, sandy beach welcoming dogs year-round. The lack of restrictions makes it paw-fect for playful pups. Plus, it's a beautiful open space for big dogs to stretch their legs. Parking is available nearby, though get there early during peak season. While we don’t have swim safety confirmation for doggos at Westbrook Bay, many dogs enjoy taking a dip. Remember to always keep a close eye and check depths, especially with puppies! The nearest facilities are a short walk away. Enjoy your tail-wagging adventures!
