About This Place
Wemyss Bay is a rock and shingle beach, looking south over the bay of the same name and across the upper Firth of Clyde to the wild countryside of the surrounding area. The beach is also an excellent place for watching the ferries approaching and leaving the ferry terminal to Rothesay on the Isle of Bute. Boating is also popular here. --> Limited parking can be found around the town of Wemyss Bay, but the beach itself is set on a private road. It can be reached down a slipway. Facilities such as shops and cafes can be found a few hundred meters south of the beach in the town centre, near the ferry terminal. There is also a large holiday park located close to the beach. The railway station in the town is reputed to be one of the most beautiful in Scotland, and offers frequent services to and from Glasgow.
π‘ Our Take
Looking for a simple dog-friendly beach escape? Wemyss Bay in Inverclyde, Scotland, offers year-round access for your furry pal to enjoy the sand and sea! Perfect for a relaxed stroll, especially for older or less active dogs, the firm sand makes walking easy. While information is limited, the lack of restrictions means dogs can truly roam free. Parking is available nearby, though be sure to check local council information for facilities. Swimming safety hasn't been clarified, so keep a close eye on your dog in the water. Tip: bring fresh water, especially on warmer days!
