Welcombe Mouth Beach
๐ Bude, Devon
About This Place
Welcombe Mouth is a secluded and serene spot which sits on Devonโs north coast although it is often grouped together with the beaches of Bude over the border in Cornwall.ย --> The beach is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and this coastline is known for its signature geological features - the striated and folded rock formations of the cliffs. Welcombe Mouth is also home to a dramatic waterfall as well as a range of craggy rock pools that are perfect for budding marine biologists. The entire beach is surrounded by cliffs and coastal paths bisect the area.ย The main section of the beach is made up of pebbles above the tide line and golden sand below with rocks liberally dotted around the shore.ย The beach is mainly used by locals and one of the reasons for this is that it can be quite difficult to find. To get to Welcombe Mouth you need to drive along various narrow lanes and then walk down the track that leads to the coast, but it is well worth the effort for what is a quiet and unspoilt spot.
