Walberswick Beach
📍 Southwold, Suffolk
About This Place
This lovely little sand dune backed beach is just across the River Blythe from Southwold, which is within easy walking distance. --> A walk in the other direction will take you past the Walberswick Nature Reserve with its mix of marsh and heathland. The beach at Walberswick is just a short walk from the village which means all amenities are close at hand. Even if you don’t need anything it is worth the stroll up to have a look around this pretty little village. Walberswick is possibly best known as the home of “The British Open Crabbing Championship”. The event hasn’t been run in recent years but used to take place in the waterways behind the beach with the person catching the largest crab within 90 minutes declared the winner!
💡 Our Take
Nestled along Suffolk's charming coast, Walberswick Beach is a delightful destination for dogs who love to frolic in the sand year-round. This beach boasts fine, expansive sands perfect for playful paws, making it great for big dogs and energetic puppies. With ample nearby parking, particularly at Ferry Road Car Park, convenience is assured. The nearest facilities are found in the quaint village of Walberswick, just a short walk away. Although generally safe for swimming, always keep an eye on the tide levels. Remember, this beach’s openness might overwhelm anxious dogs, so plan accordingly. DogParkUK highly recommends this gem for any canine companion!
