About This Place

Uyea is located near the northern tip of Shetland’s Mainland on the  Northmavine peninsula. It both remote and breathtaking, accessible only by a challenging hike across rugged moorland This secluded bay rewards visitors with pristine white sand, crystal-clear turquoise waters, and dramatic sea stacks rising from the ocean. --> The beach is separated from the small tidal island of Uyea by a shallow channel, which can be crossed on foot at low tide. The surrounding cliffs and rock formations create a striking backdrop as well as a home for seabirds such as puffins and guillemots which nest on the ledges. Seals and even orcas can sometimes be spotted offshore. Due to its remote location, Uyea Beach remains untouched by crowds, offering a true sense of wilderness and tranquillity. The hike to reach it requires a combination of good navigation skills and sturdy footwear, but for those willing to make the journey is well worth it.

Nestled in the beautiful Shetland Islands, Uyea Beach is a hidden gem for dog owners and their furry companions. With its year-round dog-friendly policy, it's perfect for pups to enjoy the wide stretches of golden sand. The natural setting is especially suited for big dogs who love a good run. Without any restrictions, anxious dogs can revel in the quiet surroundings. A practical tip: bring your own water, as facilities are scarce nearby. Swimming is generally safe, but always supervise your dog in the water. DogParkUK wholeheartedly recommends Uyea Beach for a tranquil escape with your canine friend.
