Uphill Beach (Weston-super-Mare)
📍 Weston super Mare, Somerset
About This Place
Situated at the southern end of Weston-super-Mare’s lengthy stretch of beach, Uphill is a world apart from the hustle and bustle you would expect from the seaside resort. However, you won’t find quite the same range of facilities at Uphill as on Weston’s main strip. --> Uphill sands is quite similar to Brean beach which sits on the far side of the imposing headland of Brean Downs. Sandy, expansive and with parking on the beach itself there are plenty of similarities between these two neighbouring beaches. What Uphill has that Brean doesn’t is the River Axe which flows out to sea here. Whilst it might be tempting to nip across the river towards Brean Downs at low tide it is not advised as you are likely to need rescuing from a muddy fate. Behind the beach and following the course of the Axe is Uphill Local Nature Reserve. As well as an abundance of wildlife there is also a tower atop the hill which gives great views of the beach and coast below.
💡 Our Take
Uphill Beach in Weston-super-Mare is a delightful spot for dog owners, offering a sandy retreat where dogs are welcome all year round. The soft sand is perfect for those playful pups eager for a good run. Parking is convenient, though facilities are a short drive away, so plan accordingly. The beach has shallow waters, generally safe for swimming but always keep an eye on tides. This beach is ideal for your timid or younger four-legged friends, providing a calm environment away from crowds. Remember, pack plenty of water for your pooch, especially on warm, sunny days.
