About This Place

The Twin Beaches on the Isle of Gigha are two adjoining sandy coves separated by a narrow strip of land, or tombolo as it is known in geological circles. Both beaches have local names; the north beach is Bagh na Doirlinne and the southern, Bagh na Rubha Ruaidh. Despite being β€˜twins’ it is generally said that the northern beach is the better of the two. --> This striking coastal feature is situated towards the northern tip of this small Hebridean island in the shelter of the Mull of Kintyre. With soft white sand and crystal-clear turquoise waters, the beaches have an almost tropical appearance on sunny days. The Twin Beaches are set among rugged hills which come to life with a covering of wildflowers in the spring. The sheltered position makes them ideal for swimming, paddling, or just taking in the panoramic views across to Islay and Jura. Only accessible by foot or bike, the Twin Beaches are a highlight of Gigha’s unspoiled natural beauty and one of the finest beaches in the Hebrides to boot.

πŸ’‘ Our Take

Looking for a fantastic dog-friendly beach escape? We recommend checking out Twin Beaches which is located in the area of None. We're a little short on finer details at the moment, but word on the street is that dogs are welcome year-round! This sounds like a great place with no restrictions for the dogs. Without knowing all the details, we still want to remind you to keep an eye on the tide – it's best to know tide times beforehand! From what we know, Twin Beaches sounds perfectly suited for energetic pups who need space to run. We will be sure to update this with more detail when we can.
