About This Place

Turnberry is a wide sandy beach in a rural surrounding, backed by the famous Ailsa Golf Course, a regular spot on the Open Championships. --> It looks out over the Firth of Clyde, with views across to the mountainous Isle of Arran. The beach itself is backed by an extensive sand dune system. Whilst being an excellent place for golf enthusiasts, the area is also very popular for keen walkers, with the Ayrshire Coastal Path passing the beach. To the north of the beach, visitors can walk to Turnberry Lighthouse, now converted into a suite of the Trump Turnberry luxury hotel (yes, as in Donald), attached to the golf courses in the area. The lighthouse is actually built on the site of Turnberry Castle, birthplace of Robert the Bruce. The village of Turnberry sits at the southern end of the beach. Parking can be found here, along with many more places to stay to enjoy the local walks and the golf.

πŸ’‘ Our Take

Turnberry Beach, located in Ayrshire, is a delightful spot for furry friends and their humans, with dogs welcome throughout the year. The soft, golden sands provide the perfect playground for puppies to frolic and dig. Its gently sloping shores mean swimming conditions are typically safe, even for novice doggy paddlers! Although there are no on-site facilities, nearby Turnberry offers convenient options. Parking is available close to the beach, making it easy for a quick escape with big dogs needing a run-around. Just keep an eye on the changing tidesβ€”they can surprise both you and your adventurous pooch!
