Tunnels Beach (Ilfracombe)
π Ilfracombe, Devon
About This Place
A network of tunnels, hand-carved in the early nineteenth century, leads to a selection of sheltered sand and shingle beaches and a Victorian tidal swimming pool. --> The beaches, which are backed by cliffs, can only be accessed via the tunnels, for which an entrance fee is charged.
π‘ Our Take
Looking for a dog-friendly haven in Devon? We at DogParkUK recommend Tunnels Beach, Ilfracombe! Good news - dogs are welcome *all year round* to enjoy the pebbly (but easily navigable) beach. While there isn't parking directly at the beach, find spots in the nearby town centre. It's an easy walk, but pack water especially on warm days! Swimming can have strong tides, so keep a close eye on your pup in the water. Tunnels Beach is fantastic for confident dogs who love investigating rockpools and meeting new people. Less good for extremely anxious or tiny puppies who might struggle with the pebbles.
