Tresness Beach
๐ Kirkwall, Orkney
About This Place
Tresness on the Isle of Sanday is one of the most beautiful and unique beaches on the Orkney Islands. The beach is formed of a strip of white sand which tenuously connects a grassy headland to the rest of Sanday. To one side of the high dunes, the North Sea, to the other theย ย Bay of Newark, a sheltered tidal lagoon. --> If you walk towards the end of the headland and climb the dunes the view back along the coast is spectacular as the beach trails off into the distance.Located at the southern tip of the peninsula is a prehistoric chamber tomb which was only discovered relatively recently. Donโt be surprised if you see archeologists digging around the site.
๐ก Our Take
Tresness Beach, a hidden gem in the Orkney Islands, is a perfect haven for your canine companions, offering dog-friendly access all year round. With its soft, expansive sands and unrestricted open spaces, it's ideal for playful puppies and energetic big dogs alike. Ample parking is a short distance away, though facilities are limited, so plan accordingly. Always keep an eye on tidal patterns for swim safety, especially with anxious dogs. The tranquil setting and absence of seasonal restrictions make Tresness Beach a warm recommendation from DogParkUK for a memorable day out with your furry friends.
