About This Place
Aberpoth is a picturesque village nestling in the hills of the Cardigan Bay area, approximately mid-way between New Quay and Newport. There are two lovely, sandy beaches, separated from each other by a rocky area, and flanked on one side by cliffs. Both beaches lie in a relatively sheltered natural cove, making them an ideal destination for a family day out. --> Visitors come here to play in the golden sand, swim and snorkel in the bay and enjoy a variety of watersports. It can also be fun to search for wildlife in the rockpools that are exposed here at low tide. In addition there is some very good fishing along this part of the coast. From the beach there are lovely views of the rolling Welsh hills and out over the bay. Cardigan Bay is a good place to spot wildlife. There is plenty of interesting birdlife to keep ornithologists happy, including red kites which are known to be in the area. Best of all, the bay is home to two resident colonies of bottlenose dolphins, which might be spotted out in the surf, by walkers exploring some of the many trails and footpaths to be found along the coastline. There is a car park immediately above the rocks which separate the two beaches. More parking can be found in the village, which also offers shops, places to eat and places to stay.
