Traeth Llyn Beach sits in a remote sandy bay on the north-western coast of Pembrokeshire and the only way to get here is on foot making it something of a hidden treasure. The beach faces west and is located between Porthgain and Abereiddy. High cliffs on all sides mean the beach here is quite sheltered from the prevailing winds. --> Access is from the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Footpath which takes you along the surrounding cliffs. You can join the footpath at either Abereiddy or Porthgain but there are some very steep steps here which might make it difficult for some walkers. The steps down to the beach apparently date from the Second World War when they were cut into the cliffside by Italian prisoners of war. Whilst the journey to the beach can be a little challenging it is worth the effort as the sand here is clean the surrounding scenery picturesque. Make sure that you keep an eye on the tide as it is possible to get cut off as it rises quickly.
