About This Place

New Quay was once an important centre for fishing and ship building. Today it is a popular holiday resort and one of Wales’s top sailing destinations. Poet Dylan Thomas lived for a time in the village and is thought to have based some of the characters in Under Milk Wood on village locals. Traeth Gwyn Beach stretches around New Quay Bay, from the lifeboat station all the way round to Llaina Point.Β  The sandy beach, which offers plenty of space, especially at low tide, is backed by trees, behind which are a holiday park and caravan park. --> It is used by bathers and fishermen and is a good place to stroll along, although it is advisable to check tidal tables. There are plenty of good walks in the area, and the Ceredigion Coast Path passes close by.

πŸ’‘ Our Take

Traeth Gwyn Beach, nestled in the charming New Quay, offers a welcoming retreat for dogs year-round. Its golden sands provide an expansive playground perfect for energetic pups and larger breeds to frolic freely. Parking is conveniently located nearby, ensuring an easy arrival. While lifeguard services aren’t present, the generally calm waters offer a safe splash for confident swimmer dogs. Nearest facilities are a short walk away in New Quay, making it practical for longer stays. Ideal for adventurous dogs who love to explore, we recommend keeping a keen eye on tides, as they can rise quickly. Enjoy a serene day out!
