Traeth Abermenai Beach
π Newborough, Anglesey
About This Place
The name Traeth Abermenai translates to the beach at the mouth of the Menai Strait. Whilst not strictly a river this area does have very much the appearance of a river mouth with large areas of wet sand at low tide and salt marshes behind. --> There is a pleasant area of sandy beach tucked in behind Abermenai Point (the south-easterly tip of Anglesey). Backed by dunes, and with views across the Menai towards Caernarfon and the mountains beyond, this is a great spot for getting away from it all. However, caution is advised in both walking or entering the water at Abermenai; the tides here are quite ferocious as millions of gallons of water rush in and out of the Menai Strait. It is easy to get caught by the incoming tide if you stray too far out onto the sands
