Tal-y-Bont Beach lies between the town of Barmouth and the relative wilderness of Morfa Dyffryn beach. Tal-y-Bont, or Benar Beach as it is locally known, is a pristine sandy beach backed by sand dunes and a couple of caravan parks. --> The dunes here make up a section of the system that extends beyond Morfa Dyffryn which have been designated as a spot of Special Scientific Interest as they are known for being one of the most adaptable ecosystems in the UK. The dunes are also home to a variety of animal and plant life and if you like wild flowers then you will be able to spot orchids and sharp sea rush. Bird watchers are also in for a treat as the dunes house a range of species such as the ringed plover and inquisitive cormorants. As you relax or take a stroll on the soft sands here you will be afforded views along the Gwynedd coast both to the north and south. Fishing is popular here as the waters around Tal-y-Bont are teeming with various species including plaice, flounders, bass, and dogfish. Tal-y-Bont beach is also good spot for surfing when the conditions are right.  To get to the beach you can either walk from the scenic village of Tal-y-Bont, with its railway station, or cycle via the National Cycle Route 8 that runs close by.
