About This Place

Stray Beach is the most south-easterly beach along the sandy Redcar coastline. Located between the edge of the tourist town of Redcar and the village of Marske-by-the-Sea it is backed by a grassy area separating it from the road, behind which there are fields. As a result of its rural setting, Stray can be a little less busy than the beaches closer to the centre of Redcar, making it better suited for those who want to take in the sea air in relative peace and quiet. --> Popular pastimes here include bathing, surfing, kite surfing, and windsurfing. Whilst the beach is wide and relatively flat at low tide, much of it becomes covered by water once the tide has come in. A car park along Coast Road offers access to the beach down a short path, as well as toilets and disabled parking. Further facilities can be found in the town of Redcar including a railway station, an amusement park, a lifeboat museum, and many shops, pubs, places to eat, and places to stay.

πŸ’‘ Our Take

Looking for a dog-friendly beach in the North East? DogParkUK recommends Stray Beach in Redcar, North Yorkshire. This sandy stretch welcomes dogs year-round with no seasonal restrictions – perfect for zoomies anytime! Parking is generally available nearby but can get busy. While designated facilities are limited, Redcar town centre is a short walk away. Swim safety can vary, so keep a close eye on the tides. This beach is fantastic for active dogs who love a good run. However, its open expanse might not suit nervous pups. Remember to bag and bin your doggy doo to keep Stray Beach beautiful for everyone!
