About This Place
Staffin bay is on the northeast coast of the Trotternish peninsula on the beautiful Isle of Skye. The beach is surrounded by rugged scenery including the Quiraing Peak and amazing sea views. This sandy beach is ideal for families and is nice and sheltered with a sloping approach into the sea. The sand has a scattering of smooth rocks and thereβs a boat slipway nearby with boat trips and fishing trips available in summer. --> A recent discovery of fossilised dinosaur footprints in a stone slab in 2002 has really put this beach on the map. They can be seen on a flat mudstone to the right of the large boulders on the beach and were identified as those of a three-toed Hadrosaur. The beach is easy to access from the main road and is within walking distance of the crofting community of Staffin. There is a car park at the Columbia 1400 Community Centre. The beach is close to Kilt Rock and the cascading Mealt Falls viewpoint.
π‘ Our Take
Staffin Bay in the Isle of Skye offers a year-round doggy paradise with its expansive sandy shores! Your furry friend will adore bounding across the firm sand, perfect for energetic pups. Parking is available nearby, although facilities are limited, so pack water. While the sea looks inviting, always check conditions as currents can be strong. This beach is ideal for confident swimmers and energetic dogs who love a good run. For smaller or more timid dogs, stick to the shallow areas closer to the shore. Skye's stunning backdrop makes this a truly special spot for you and your canine companion.
