Set along a stretch of coast best known for its beautiful sandy beaches is this hidden gem. Nestled in a gap in the wooded cliffs, this little cove is home to a small pebble beach and a quay. --> Stackpole Quay, as it is known, is part of the National Trust owned Stackpole Estate. Dating back to Norman times the 200 acre estate has passed through many hands. There was once a manor house here but that fell into disrepair and was demolished in 1963, the same time the estate was donated to the NT.The beach at Stackpole Quay is popular for a number of activities. Topping the list is snorkelling and it is rated as one of the best places in the UK for this. You can also swim here as the cove is sheltered from the waves, particularly at high tide. However, there is no lifeguard so know your own abilities.Stackpole Quay is also a popular spot for kayaking and paddleboarding with easy access down the slipway from the car park.From the cove it is only a short walk around the coast to one of Wales’ best beaches, Barafundle Bay. With its golden sands and clear blue sea it is definitely worth a visit. A little further in the opposite direction is another fantastic sandy beach at Freshwater East.Located just a little way up from the beach is the Boathouse. This National Trust tea rooms provide coffees, light snacks, refreshments and locally made ice cream.

This beach is excellent for dogs of all sizes, allowing them ample space to run, sniff, and enjoy the salty air. It's especially great for active, big breeds.
