Within easy walking distance of Margate, the small, quiet, sandy beach of St Mildred’s Bay is next to the seaside town of Westgate. The beach backs on to a promenade and the sea wall follows the cliff formations around the bay. --> Beach chalets which can be hired from Easter to September, there is a café/restaurant, and deck chairs are also available for hire. One of St Mildred’s Bay’s family-friendly features is a tidal bathing pool at the far end of the beach, which offers safe swimming among the rock pools. The beach is submerged at high tide. Activities on offer include crazy golf, sailing, swimming and bathing, and wind surfing as well as tennis courts and a putting green. Nearby cafes serve coffee, tea, and snacks. Toilet availability times vary according to the season; facilities are fully open from the end of March and include disabled toilets. There is parking nearby, with disabled access to the beach. There is a weekend lifeguard service from the end of May to the start of July, with daily cover from early July to the start of September.
