🏖️ Beach
St Marys Bay
📍 Hythe, Kent
About This Place
This clean, sandy beach stretches along the coast between Dymchurch and Littlestone-on-Sea. At low tide this part of the beach is about half a mile wide with wooden groynes dividing it up. In summer St Mary’s Bay is particularly popular with bathers. --> A good promenade runs alongside the beach, behind which is a low sea wall. In the summer season a kiosk opens on the promenade selling drinks and snacks. Out at sea is a section of concrete Mulberry Harbour, built in 1944 for the Normandy landings. The land close to the beach was developed as a resort in the 1920s, and reached its peak in the 1960s. Romney Marsh, home to a variety of wildlife, lies south-west of the beach. Children will enjoy taking a ride on the nearby Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch narrow-gauge railway.
💡 Our Take
Looking for a year-round dog-friendly beach in Kent? St Marys Bay is your answer! Your dogs will love the firm sand, perfect for zoomies and digging year-round. Parking is generally easy, though it can get busier in peak season. While facilities are limited directly on the beach, you'll find shops and cafes a short walk away. Be sure to keep an eye on the tides, some areas can become submerged quickly. It's a fantastic spot for confident swimmers. Great for active dogs that love to run, but also ideal for puppies getting their first experiences of the beach!
