St. Dogmaels Slipway Beach
π Cardigan, Glamorgan
About This Place
This small beach lies next to St Dogmaels village, on the banks of the River Teifi. A number of small fishing boats are moored here.Β --> The beach, which is a mix of sand and pebbles, looks out onto the river rather than the sea, but is a pleasant spot to stop for a picnic before setting out on one of the areas popular coastal walks. Swimming here is dangerous because of the presence of strong river currents.Β Seals, porpoises and even bottle-nosed dolphins are frequently spotted along the nearby stretch of coast.Β The 186-mile long Pembrokeshire Coast Path starts in St Dogmaels village, which houses the remains of a 12th century abbey, as well as having a pub, minimarket and fish and chip shop.
π‘ Our Take
Looking for a dog-friendly beach in Wales? We at DogParkUK recommend St. Dogmaels Slipway Beach! It's fabulous because dogs are welcome all year. While information is limited, we know what's important to you. The sand is perfect for digging, and there's usually space for zoomies. Parking details are scarce, so arrive early, especially during peak season. Check tide times before you visit and stay aware of currents for safe swimming. While we don't know nearest facilities, stock up! It's likely great for dogs of all sizes, perhaps even those more anxious pups, but keeping them close to you and on a leash initially to familiarise themselves with the surroundings will make for a much smoother visit.
