About This Place

St Combs is a beautiful, remote beach around 5 miles down the coast from Fraserburgh.Β  The sandy beach is backed by hills and a series of grassy dunes which stretch south all the way to Peterhead. --> A walk along the shore to Rattray Head is a good way to stretch the legs, and if you set out early in the morning there is a chance to see a beautiful sunrise as well as the possibility of spotting seals sleeping in the sands. This area is reputed to be one of the sunniest parts of Scotland. There are fine views along the coastline and out over the vast North Sea. The Strathberg Nature Reserve is not far from the beach, and features Britain’s largest dune loch. During the summer months there is a good chance of spotting ospreys around the loch. The small fishing village of St Combs has a hotel and an ice-cream/chip shop which sells some everyday items.Β  More extensive facilities can be found in Fraserburgh.

πŸ’‘ Our Take

Nestled in Aberdeenshire, St. Combs Beach is a hidden gem for dog owners. This expansive sandy haven welcomes dogs year-round, making it a playful paradise for every canine, from rambunctious puppies to calmer, anxious dogs needing serenity. With no restrictions, your furry friend can frolic freely along the soft, golden sands. Convenient parking is nearby, although facilities are limited within walking distance, so plan accordingly. While the beach is perfect for strolling and play, swimming should be approached with caution due to possible currents. St. Combs Beach is an ideal retreat for those seeking a peaceful, dog-friendly escape.
