About This Place
Spittal Quay lies close to the mouth of the River Tweed, immediately below Berwick-upon-Tweed.Β The predominantly sandy, estuary beach is backed by a grassy area and a RNLI lifeboat station can be found immediately to the west. --> The closest parking is at the end of Sandstell Road.Β From here visitors have a choice of heading to the estuary beach, or taking the coastal footpath which heads south towards Spittal Promenade and beach.Β There are plenty of wading and other birds to be seen in the area and if you are lucky, you might even spot a seal bobbing about offshore as you walk down the coast. Facilities can be found in Spittal or in the ancient town Berwick-upon-Tweed.
π‘ Our Take
Spittal Beach, located in the charming town of Berwick-upon-Tweed in Northumberland, is a dog owner's paradise. With its vast stretch of fine golden sand, it offers plenty of space for dogs to run freely, no matter the season. Dogs are welcomed year-round, making it perfect for both energetic puppies and older, anxious dogs seeking a calm stroll. Parking is conveniently close, but bring water as facilities are limited. Although the beach is generally safe for swimming, always supervise dogs near water. DogParkUK heartily recommends Spittal Beach for its unspoiled beauty and the freedom it affords our furry friends.
