About This Place

Speke’s Mill is set just north of the Devon / Cornwall border, near Hartland Point. This stretch of coast is beyond rugged with high cliffs and jagged rocks jutting into the full might of the Atlantic Ocean. Countless ships have been wrecked around here and the place still has something of a sense of foreboding about it. --> This is not a beach you would come to for sunbathing, sandcastles and a paddle; it is place to soak up the dramatic scenery and admire the well-known waterfall. The Speke’s Mill waterfall plummets down a sheer 60 feet cliff face onto the fingers of rock below.Besides walkers, the most regular visitors here are surfers, come to take on the powerful waves that break over the reef. This is one for only the most experienced though.

💡 Our Take

Looking for a dog-friendly escape in North Devon? We at DogParkUK recommend checking out Spekes Mill Beach! What makes this beach pawsome is that dogs are welcome all year round, so no seasonal restrictions here! The sand is lovely and golden, perfect for digging. Parking is available nearby, making access easy. However, remember that facilities are limited, so bring your own water. Swim safety can vary, so do check conditions. Best for energetic dogs and those who enjoy sandy play. Tip: the coastal path offers a great walk with outstanding views.
