Southsea West Beach
📍 Portsmouth, Hampshire
About This Place
Southsea lies to the east of Portsmouth Harbour, and offers visitors a choice of beaches and many other leisure activities. This stretch of sloping shingle between Southsea Castle and Lighthouse, and South Parade Pier, is a popular beach. It is backed by a promenade which makes a good place to take a stroll or even a run if you have the energy. The beach has good views over The Solent and is an excellent spot to sit and watch the ships and ferries coming in and out of Portsmouth Harbour. --> Behind the western end of the beach, The Rock Gardens offer plenty of spots to sit and relax amongst the tropical foliage and well-tended shrubs. Beyond that, The Pyramids is the town’s largest leisure centre and features a good indoor children’s play area, the perfect place for little ones to let off steam on rainy days.
💡 Our Take
Southsea West Beach in Hampshire is a real find for dog lovers! Your furry friend can frolic on the sand year-round, making it a perfect anytime escape. The beach has a mix of sand and shingle, great for digging and paddling in the shallows. Parking is usually available nearby, though it can get busy in peak season. You'll find essential facilities like toilets close by in Southsea. While generally safe for swimming, always keep a watchful eye on your dog, especially with strong tides.
