South Tenby Beach
π Tenby, Glamorgan
About This Place
Tenby South Beach stretches for a mile and a half across coast that backed by soft sand dunes. The beach is located between St Catherineβs Island and the headland of Giltar Point. The area closest to Tenby town is the most popular part of the beach but if you walk a little further along towards the east end you will be able to find a less crowded spot. --> At low tide the beach joins up with Castle Beach to reveal a huge stretch of clean golden sand which is ideal for beach games and sandcastles. At high tide there is still a large expanse of the beach left to enjoy. The sand here slopes gently down into the sea so swimming is safe and there are no rocks or deep ledges to avoid. As you look out from Tenby South Beach you will see Caldey Island in the distance. This area is also protected by the cliffs and the natural curve of the coastline meaning that you are shielded from the fresh winds common in Wales. The northern side of Tenby South Beach has a range of amenities like toilets and a car park, plus there is easy disabled access. There are also food options close to the beach with a couple of cafes, restaurants, and the South Beach Shack that serves sandwiches and ice creams. You will also find deckchair hire available in the summer season from June to September and there is an ice cream van that serves the beach throughout this period. In the summer months lifeguards patrol the beach so that families can visit with full peace of mind. Dogs are allowed at the far end of the area throughout the year.
π‘ Our Take
Nestled in the picturesque town of Tenby, South Tenby Beach in Pembrokeshire is a delightful year-round haven for furry friends. With its soft golden sands, it's perfect for dogs to frolic and dig to their heart's content. Unrestricted access makes it an ideal location for all dogs, including energetic puppies and big canine companions looking to burn energy. Parking is conveniently nearby, though we recommend arriving early on sunny weekends as it can get busy. While the waters are inviting, always supervise your pup's swimming, as currents can be unpredictable. For facilities, a short stroll brings you into Tenby town. DogParkUK loves it!
