Skinburness Beach
📍 Silloth, Cumbria
About This Place
Skinburness is a small village on the north Cumbrian coast. It has views over the Solway Firth towards Dumfries and Galloway in Scotland. --> A short distance north of the village, Grune Point is a raised shingle and sand beach approximately one mile in length. The west side of the beach faces the Solway Firth. Beyond the point, the eastern end of the beach has a saltmarsh which is teeming with wildlife. This is an excellent destination for birdwatching. In the 15th century the beach was used by smugglers bringing Scottish whisky and other contraband to England.Visitors to the area should be aware of the tides and should check the tidal tables before venturing onto the sands. In addition some of the roads here may be submerged at high tides.
💡 Our Take
Looking for a leash-free paradise in Cumbria? DogParkUK recommends Skinburness Beach! Your furry friend can roam year-round on the expansive sands. While details are limited, remember responsible dog ownership is KEY, always cleaning up after your dog. Parking might be limited, so arrive early. Nearest facilities are unclear, so pack water and poop bags. We suggest checking tide times! This beach would be most suitable for energetic, well-socialized dogs who relish open spaces, but keep a close eye on puppies during play. Let your dog run wild, but always prioritize their safety!
