About This Place

A small sandy beach set largely within the shelter of Skateraw harbour. --> The beach is somewhat dominated by the bulk of Torness nuclear power station situated at the eastern end of the harbour. There is a walkway along the seawall in front of the power station which provides views back to the beach. Sea fishing is surprisingly good here because of the raised temperature at the power station outfall. The beach has a good-sized car park and the toilets here are available from May-September.

πŸ’‘ Our Take

We at DogParkUK highly recommend a trip to Skateraw Beach in East Lothian, Scotland! What makes it paw-some? It's dog-friendly year-round, so any time is playtime on its lovely sandy shores. While information is scarce on formal facilities, the vastness offers plenty of space for zoomies. Parking may be limited, so plan accordingly. There doesn't appear to be a swim safety information available so keep your furry friend close, especially if they're not confident swimmers. Skateraw's open expanse is fantastic for big dogs and pups needing recall practice. However, be wary as sometimes the beach can be affected by conditions that may make the water unsafe to swim.
