About This Place

This quiet, sandy beach is a haven for beachgoers looking for rugged landscape and seclusion. Singing Sands, also known as Camas an Lighe, gets its name from the sound the sand makes when visitors shuffle their feet across the soft, white sand. --> Singing Sands faces across the bay to the charming town of Port Ellen on the Isle of Islay and is also accessible via a six-mile return walk from nearby Arivegaig. Large, black volcanic rocks dot the sand, while at low tide the beach’s rock pools are filled with local sea creatures. The undeveloped, wild and remote nature of this beach means it might not suitable for many favorite water based activities. However, just a short drive away is Laggan Sands, located across the Oa peninsula. Here the beach and water are ideal spots for windsurfers, swimmers, walkers and joggers.

πŸ’‘ Our Take

Singing Sands beach, located on the Isle of Skye, is a fantastic year-round dog-friendly haven. The firm sand is perfect for energetic pups who love to run! Parking is usually available nearby, though the nearest facilities are a short drive away, so pack accordingly. While the water is generally shallow, be mindful of currents and tides for swim safety. This beach is especially great for big dogs and those who love fetch. Keep an eye out for sheep grazing nearby; you don't want any accidental herding incidents! A wonderful spot for a peaceful paw-cation.
