About This Place
This secluded beach is located just east of Lynmouth. It is generally quiet as it is a bit of a mission to get to, but well worth it. --> The beach sits at the base of high verdant cliffs that lead to Foreland Point. At lower tides there is a fair bit of sand exposed but as it fills up you are left with the boulders and shingle below the cliffs.Given its secluded, isolated location Sillery Sands is a well known nudist beach. Naturists tend to frequent the far / north eastern end of the beach.Access is tricky at best and is easiest if you park near Countisbury Hill and head on to the coast path. From here a steep track zig-zags down to the beach. Whether you can actually get down to the beach itself from here is a matter of luck. Sometimes you will find a collection of precarious ropes and ladders, but neither are permanent as a recent landslide demonstrated. (NOTE: the beach is now reportedly completely inaccessible by foot due to the steps being washed away. There are no plans to reinstate them.) Donβt try walking along the foreshore from Lynmouth - it is hard going and you may end up stranded by the tide.
π‘ Our Take
Sillery Sands, location unknown, *DogParkUK* recommends it for its year-round dog-friendly policy! Though specific details are scarce, that freedom alone is a huge plus. We imagine plenty of space for energetic pups to run. However, without details on the sand type or nearby facilities, remember to bring all your own supplies β water, poo bags, and any shade you'll need. Always check tide times locally for added safety when swimming. Sillery Sands, if sandy and spacious, could be ideal for big dogs needing exercise, BUT only if you come prepared.
