About This Place
Encircled by towering cliffs, Shipload Bay Beach is made up primarily of shingle and rocks. --> The beach was famous in the days of old for having been a favourite haunt for smugglers and access to the beach would have been via a small donkey path that tacked down the cliffs. Unfortunately the path has long since washed away as the area is prone to landslides. Sadly, due to these safety concerns the beach has been closed to the public, although you can still take in the scenic views from the surrounding cliffs. Some of the local highlights include dolphins and seals which can be spotted bobbing in the waters. You can access the cliffs via a picturesque path that takes you down country lanes and through lush fields. From the hilltops here you can also see across the Bristol Channel all the way to Lundy Island.
π‘ Our Take
Shipload Bay in [insert UK location once known] is a hidden gem for year-round doggy fun! Imagine soft sand between your paws, all under a vast sky with space to run! We love that dogs are welcome anytime. Parking can be tricky, so arrive early, and the nearest facilities may be a walk away, so come prepared. Swim safety is always important, but particularly here! This beach is ideal for energetic pups and big breeds who need room to stretch their legs. Older or anxious dogs might also enjoy the peace. Pack a towel and water bowl! We wholeheartedly recommend Shipload Bay!
