Sheringham Beach

About This Place
Sheringham is an award-winning Blue Flag beach made up of sand with areas of shingle and larger stones. At low tide there is plenty of golden sand for families to sunbathe and explore the rock pools filled with miniature marine life. However, as the tide comes in the beach all but disappears. --> Pedestrian access is from Beach Road down a ramp or via West Cliff Garden. Thereβs a promenade which runs along the top of the concrete seawall defences offering pleasant coastal walks in both directions. The beach is overlooked by cafes and restaurants with sea views. Wooden groynes divide the beach and reduce the erosion and movement of sand along the North Norfolk coastline.Β The beach is popular with families and two teams of RNLI lifeguards operate during the summer months. There are public toilets and showers and beach huts are available for hire. Dogs are restrained to the dog-friendly zone from May through September. Located 5 miles west of Cromer, Sheringham is a seaside town with a fishing industry based on crabs, lobsters and whelks. It is celebrated in the annual Crab and Lobster Festival each May. There is no harbour so fishing boats are hauled up the sand and the lifeboat is launched by tractor - an interesting sight to observe.
