About This Place

Selwicks Bay lies on the Flamborough headland, just above the most easterly point in the promontory. Set in a bay at the foot of high cliffs this sand and pebble beach stretches for around 3/4 mile. As the tide goes out a rocky shoreline, with many rockpools, is revealed. --> The 400-feet chalk cliffs around this part of the coast provide nesting for a large number of birds-this spot really is a birdwatcher’s paradise.  Gannets, oyster-catchers, gulls and eider ducks can all be found here. From the cliffs above the sand and pebble beach there are striking views out over Bridlington Bay.  There has been a lighthouse near this spot since the 17th century.  The current structure, built in 1806, still guides vessels safely around the rocky headland.

💡 Our Take

Looking for a dog-friendly seaside escape? We at DogParkUK think Selwicks Bay in East Riding of Yorkshire could be perfect! Although details are sparse, the lack of restrictions suggests year-round dog freedom. Imagine your furry friend bounding across the sands! Do check local tide times, as access might be affected. Parking and facilities are unknown, so prepare with water and poop bags. Without further information, we'd advise this is best for seasoned beach dogs rather than timid puppies. Remember to always keep a close eye on your pup, especially near the water. Have fun!
