π Whitley Bay, Tyne and Wear
About This Place
Seaton Sluice is a coastal village at the mouth of the Seaton Burn. It has a small, sleepy harbour and a number of pubs, shops and places to eat. --> The wide, sandy beach just north of here forms the southern end of a long strip of sand, backed by grassy dunes, which links Seaton Sluice to Blyth. A path leads through the dunes, where a variety of plant and animal life can be spotted. On the other side of the harbour mouth is Collywell Bay, a mixture of sand and rocks backed by a high wall. This is a popular spot with anglers. Activities here include bathing and surfing, but generally this is a quiet spot, especially on weekdays. Parking spots can usually be found along the A193, adjacent to the dunes. There is a car park with toilets by the roundabout where the A190 intersects with the A193.
π‘ Our Take
Looking for a dog-friendly beach in Northumberland? Seaton Sluice Beach is a great choice! Your furry friend can enjoy the sandy beach year-round, perfect for zoomies and digging. Parking is available nearby, making access easy compared to some other north east spots. While the description is a little basic, Seaton Sluice village offers cafes and shops just a short walk away. Always check tide times before you go, however, as swimming can be unsafe at certain times. This beach is perfect for confident swimmers, but perhaps less suited to puppies or dogs nervous around water.
