Seacombe Sand / Rickham Sand Beach
๐ Salcombe, Devon
About This Place
This lovely little secluded beach is tucked away on a section of National Trust owned coast across the waters from Salcombe. There are actually two beaches separated by a small headland; the larger Seacombe Sands (Gara Rock) and smaller Rickham Sand (also known as Abrahamโs Hole). --> At low tide both beaches form a more or less continuous stretch of fine golden sand. As the tide comes in most of Rickham Sand becomes submerged. Access is easiest by walking round from East Portlemouth along the coast path although it is possible to drive to Gara Rock. On Decklerโs Cliff behind the beach here are the remains of with ancient field systems which date back to the Bronze Age and are still clearly visible.
๐ก Our Take
We love Rickham Sand Beach, near Kingsbridge, Devon, for its year-round dog-friendly access! The golden sands are perfect for zoomies and digging. With no restrictions, happy pups can roam free. Parking is available but can get busy, so arrive early. There aren't on-site facilities, so pack water and poo bags; the nearest amenities are in nearby Kingsbridge town. Be mindful of tides as swimming can be unsafe for inexperienced dogs. Rickham is great for confident swimmers & big breeds due to the space, but keep a close eye on smaller dogs venturing into the waves.
