Scratby beach is a good-sized stretch of sand and shingle set along low sandy cliffs. It is popular for fishing and swimming, although there is no lifeguard. During the winter there can be quite good waves here making it popular with surfers. --> The beach is also an ideal place for walkers as it stretches along the coast for many miles in either direction. In addition dogs are allowed all year round. To the south, visitors can walk to the town of Caister-on-Sea, or even to Great Yarmouth, whilst to the north they can walk to Hemsby Beach, and on to Winterton Dunes National Nature Reserve. There is a small car park along Rottenstone Lane and although there are disabled spaces, visitors with mobility problems may find access to the beach difficult as it involves descending a narrow path and steps. (Please note public toilets have been closed since 2018). In the village of Scratby, a short walk from the beach, there are a few small cafes, pubs and shops.
