About This Place
Scabbacombe Sands is somewhat off the beaten track despite being only a few miles south of Brixham. Admittedly it is a bit of a hike from the nearest car park on Scabbacombe Lane, but we think it is worth it for what is a very pleasant and unspoilt beach. --> As with other beaches in the area the name โsandsโ may be a little misleading - there is sand but it is distinctly shingley. But donโt let that put you off; the water here is crystal clear and the beachโs east-facing aspect means the cliffs provide plenty of shelter from the wind. Before you go it is worth noting Scabbacombe Sands is frequented by naturists.
๐ก Our Take
Scabbacombe Sands, nestled in Devon, is a hidden gem for dog lovers, allowing dogs to frolic freely year-round. Its soft, golden sand makes it ideal for playful pups or big dogs that love to dig. While there are no facilities directly on the beach, nearby amenities ensure a convenient visit. Parking can be tricky, especially during peak times, so arriving early is advisable. The gentle waters provide relatively safe swimming conditions, though it's always best to stay vigilant. Ideal for adventurous, energetic pets as well as more anxious ones, DogParkUK recommends Scabbacombe Sands for a delightful day by the sea.
