About This Place
With its white sand and clear turquoise water Sanna Bay is one of those Scottish beaches that, on the right day, could pass for being in the Caribbean. The wide bay here is actually comprised of a handful of little beaches all separated by low rocky outcrops. --> Sanna Bay is located just around the corner from the most westerly point in mainland Britain at the tip of the Ardnamurchan peninsula. This is about as remote as it sounds and access is by a long, winding journey along a narrow single track lane. However, the reward when you arrive at this pristine beach is undeniable.Beyond the sand dunes the landscape takes a turn upwards with the remains of an ancient volcano and craggy hills. This area is home to some of Scotland’s most iconic, and elusive wildlife. Otters, sea-eagles and pine martens are all found around the shores of nearby Loch Sunart.Sanna Bay itself has its fair share of wildlife and you may be lucky enough to spot dolphins or even whales off the coast here. For guaranteed marine life there are numerous rock pools to explore at low tide.Facing west just adds to the photography opportunities with stunning sunsets a common feature. This is rounded off with great views out over the Small Isles (Eigg, Muck, Rum and Canna).
💡 Our Take
Sanna Bay, located in the stunning Ardnamurchan Peninsula of Scotland, is a dog-friendly paradise where pups can roam freely all year round. With its soft, powdery white sand beaches, it's perfect for those with sensitive paws, making it ideal for puppies and anxious dogs. There's ample parking nearby, but note the lack of local amenities, so plan accordingly. The gentle waves provide a safe swimming environment, but always keep a close eye on big dogs prone to adventure. At DogParkUK, we love Sanna Bay for its serene environment and inclusive dog-friendly policy, ensuring every tail wags happily all year.
