Sandy Haven Beach
π Milford Haven, Glamorgan
About This Place
Sandy Haven Beach sits on a large creek which flows from the Milford Haven Waterway between Dale and Milford Haven. When the tide is low there is just a small trickling stream left from the creek and which you can cross to the eastern shore. --> The beach here is mostly rocky but it does have a strip of sand that is accessible towards low tide. Flanked by the low, wooded cliffs of Great Castle Head and South Hook Point, this is a very sheltered spot. The famous artist Graham Sutherland was drawn to this beach many times and lots of his paintings feature Sandy Haven. Much of this may be to do with the mystique of the beach and the quaint traditional elements such as the cottages along the waterway which would have belonged to fishermen and sailors back in the days of old. There are several ways to get to the beach which include the Milford Haven to Dale Road or the road leading from the Herbrandston Hall.
