About This Place

In case you hadn’t guessed, Sandy Bay is indeed a very sandy beach! Backed by high cliffs the beach is around a mile in length and set in what feels like a secluded bay. However, towards low tide the beach becomes a continuous stretch of sand reaching all the way to Exmouth nearly two miles away. --> Just above the beach is the Devon Cliffs seaside caravan resort owned by Haven Holidays. Along with Sandy Bay’s close proximity to Exeter this means it can get pretty busy here in the summer. Just west of Sandy Bay are Orcombe rocks, a heritage site well known for its fossils.

πŸ’‘ Our Take

Looking for a fantastic dog-friendly beach? We at DogParkUK wholeheartedly recommend Sandy Bay! While information is limited, its biggest draw is dogs are welcome year-round. Imagine happy pooches enjoying the sand, whatever the season! A wide sandy stretch makes it ideal for zoomies and games of fetch. Although we lack specifics about the sand and facilities, remember swim safety is paramount since these aren't known - always supervise your dog near the water. Sandy Bay sounds perfect for dogs who love open spaces; perhaps with a little research, its ideal for big dogs!
