Sandgate Beach
📍 Hythe, Kent
About This Place
Sandgate is a small coastal town around 2 miles down the coast from Folkestone. Approximately one mile west of the town centre, this large, pebble beach is used by fishermen , picnickers and anyone looking for a relaxing spot to sit on the shore, skimming stones and watching boats and ferries pass by in the distance. --> The beach is backed by a promenade which runs all the way between Hythe to the west and Folkestone to the east. This promenade is used by pedestrians, cyclists and those who come here to enjoy a bracing run along the seafront. There are plenty of benches and a number of cafes and kiosks selling ice cream and other snacks. The town of Sandgate has a number of pubs, quaint independent shops and other facilities. There are some parking spots to be found along the seafront, although at peak times these can fill up pretty quickly.
💡 Our Take
Looking for a dog-friendly escape? We at DogParkUK recommend Sandgate Beach, located on the Kent coast! Your furry friend will love that dogs are welcome all year round! It's mostly shingle. Parking is available nearby, and the town of Sandgate is just a short walk for amenities. Generally, it’s a safe swimming area, but always be aware of the tides. We recommend keeping a close eye on pups near the water's edge, especially smaller breeds. Sandgate is great for confident dogs who enjoy a good beach zoom!
