Sandend is a small fishing village on the Moray Coast, about one and a half hours’ drive from Aberdeen.  The picturesque beach here slopes gently into the sea and is popular with families or anyone looking for a beautiful spot to play in the sand, hunt for shells or simply to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. --> The beach itself is mainly sandy, with some interesting rocks and small areas of pebbles.  A good expanse of sand is exposed at low tide. The village, which dates back to the 17th century, has a small working harbour.  There are the remnants of Second World War defences positioned around the bay, including anti-tank positions and a pill-box. Facilities are somewhat limited in the village, so it is a good idea to bring a picnic.
