About This Place

Saltern Cove lies between the major tourist beaches at Goodrington and Broadsands. Despite this it is usually quiet as not many people bother to make the short walk and climb to get here. It is one of the coves that make up the β€œThree beaches” area of Toraby, the others being Oyster cove and Shell Cove. --> The beach is a mix of sand, rocks and pebbles. At low tide a number of rockpools are exposed to explore. Saltern Cove is designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI ) and a Local Nature Reserve. This nature reserve extends underwater to a point 376 metres below the low water mark, which is unique in the UK.

πŸ’‘ Our Take

Saltern Cove, located in the scenic Torbay area of Devon, is a delightful gem for dog lovers. This beach is dog-friendly all year round, making it a perfect getaway for both puppies and big dogs who love to frolic on its fine sandy shores. While parking can be a bit of a challenge, early birds will find spots relatively easily. There are no immediate facilities, so plan ahead. However, the lack of restrictions and its gentle waves offer a serene environment, ideal for anxious dogs adjusting to the beach experience. DogParkUK wholeheartedly recommends this tranquil haven for paw-some adventures!
