One of a trio of bays on the west coast of Islay, Saligo Bay is a beautiful stretch of pristine sand punctuated by rocks. This is a place of moods and it’s never the same two days in a row. On a calm summer’s day it can be relaxing place of tranquil beauty. But when the winter storms roll in this exposed coast takes the full force of the Atlantic swells. --> Saligo Bay is known for its light, which makes it a favourite of photographers. Whether this be a ray of sun bursting through black clouds or the clear blues of a spring afternoon it always looks special. Facing west means it is a great spot for sunsets too.Looking north from the beach you’ll get a great view of the Sleeping Giant, a rock formation which passes a resemblance to a huge giant’s head looking to the heavens. Saligo's vast open space makes it ideal for zoomies from bigger breeds. We recommend keeping a close eye on playful puppies near the water's edge. A fantastic spot for a tranquil, dog-friendly adventure!
