Ryhope East Beach
π Seaham, Tyne and Wear
About This Place
The land around the coastal village of Ryhope, south of Sunderland, is known to have been farmed for around a thousand years. Today the village has a number of pubs and is home to the Ryhope Engine Museum. --> The small beach here was once a popular, sandy beach, but coastal erosion has resulted in the loss of much of the sand and today the beach is a mixture of sandy patches, with pebbles and rocks from the crumbling cliffs backing the beach.Β Durhamβs Heritage Coastal Footpath runs behind the beach.Β There are no facilities here, at all, but places to eat and other amenities can be found in nearby Seaham. The beach is used by fishermen and dog walkers. Take note of tide times, which are posted at the access points to the beach.
π‘ Our Take
Looking for a beach day in Tyne and Wear where your furry friend can run free? Ryhope East Beach is calling! With no seasonal dog restrictions, it's a fantastic year-round choice. The soft sands are paw-friendly, ideal for playful pups and energetic big dogs alike. Parking is available nearby. While facilities at the beach itself are limited, the nearby town offers everything you might need. Swim safety can be tricky with currents, so keep a close eye on your dog. *DogParkUK Tip:* Bring fresh water, especially on warmer days! It's a great spot for socialized dogs who love to explore.
